The Distance Education and eLearning Laboratory (LE@D) is a research unit based at Universidade Aberta and registered with FCT (Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia), the Portuguese national funding agency for science, research and technology.

LE@D, a unit dedicated to fundamental and applied research in Open and Distance Education and in eLearning in the Network Society, develops interdisciplinary research in the areas of Social Sciences, namely in Education, and integrates 87 researchers from various disciplinary areas, including 40 integrated researchers.

LE@D also develops services, consultancy, planning and coaching, in partnership or independently.
