The Pole of the Center for Mathematical Studies (CEMS.UL/UAb) is an external scientific section of CEMS.UL – Center for Mathematical Studies at the University of Lisbon. It is based at Universidade Aberta and operates according to an activity plan established with the CEMS.UL Coordination.
The CEMS.UL/UAb Pole main mission is to promote fundamental and applied research in the scientific areas of CEMS.UL. Currently, the Pole has 4 integrated researchers working in Mathematical Analysis, Differential Equations, Infinite-Dimensional Analysis, Mathematical Physics, Dynamical Systems, Mathematical Logic, and Proof Theory.
CEMS.UL is a Research Unit in Mathematical Sciences, recognized for its significant role in the national and international scientific landscape, as well as for its contributions to scientific promotion, development, and advanced training.
In addition to the material and financial resources generated directly by the projects it raises, without prejudice to being able to benefit from the granting of material resources by UAb, the members of the CEMS.UL/UAb Pole benefit from funding through the execution by FCiências.ID (a structure for the management of research units of the Faculty of Sciences) of the CEMS.UL multi-year strategic project (FCT – UID/04561/2025).
