ElastoOCT – Optical Coherence Elastography for imaging retina mechanical properties


In this project, we will develop an Optical Coherence Elastography technique for imaging the mechanical properties of the retina, in vivo, combining ultrasound excitation with optical coherence tomography.

Although the project deals only with the development and evaluation of the imaging technique and associated instrumentation, the ultimate goal and motivation are to discover early neurodegeneration biomarkers based on the mechanical properties of the retina.
