Artificial Intelligence and Education | Call for papers

‘Artificial Intelligence: education, knowledge and innovation’ is the title for a new book to be edited by Universidade Aberta. This call for papers – in Portuguese, English and Spanish – represents a valuable opportunity for a reflection on AI, for better understanding the phenomenon in all its dimensions, namely in what concerns individuals’ training, equipping them with updated skills and new perspectives to face a labour market, currently featured by its constant expansion and mutability. The call is open till next September 30.

The impact of different AIs in the educational and training context can be quite relevant. On the one hand, on the direct side, AI has the potential to enrich education through the provision of adaptive learning tools, simulations of work environments, immediate feedback and virtual guidance. On the other hand, in an indirect way, it can redefine the work paradigm by automating and providing more effective solutions to tasks of lower cognitive value, allowing professionals to dedicate themselves to activities that require greater specialization and creativity and, by processing and analysing vast volumes of data, facilitates the early identification of emerging trends and professional development needs.

The work is authored by Universidade Aberta’s professors Ana Nobre, Daniela Melaré, António Chenoll, Arnaldo Santos and Paula Valente.
