Universidade Aberta organises the conference “Distance Education and Pedagogical Innovation: Challenges and Paths for the Future”, within the scope of its participation in the Centre of Excellence and Pedagogical Innovation – INOV3P.
The event will take place in Lisbon next March, 17.
The Conference constitutes a privileged space for the discussion of distance learning challenges and opportunities as well as pedagogical innovation, presenting a comprehensive program that features two keynotes by renowned experts in the field of Distance Learning:
- Professor Aras Bozkurt, who will address the theme of pedagogical innovation in Distance Learning;
- Professor Albert Sangrà, who will address the theme of pedagogical models in Distance Learning.
Another highlight will be the presentation of the OpenEU Alliance, a network of Open and Distance Learning Universities funded by the European Universities Initiatives project, of which Universidade Aberta is a member. The initiative will be presented by the President of the OpenEU Alliance, Ms. Pastora Martínez Samper.
The program includes three roundtables dedicated to emerging issues:
- Artificial Intelligence and the Impact on Higher Education
- Review and Update of the Pedagogical Model of the UAb
- Teachers Training and Appreciation
This event is of special importance at a time when distance education in Portugal is growing significantly, with a meaningful increase in institutions offering accredited courses in this modality and students opting for this type of education.
The Conference also reaffirms the central role of INOV3P and of Universidade Aberta’s leading projects aimed at promoting pedagogical innovation in distance learning.
The INOv3P centre is funded by the sub-programme “Innovation and Pedagogical Modernisation in Higher Education – Creation of Centres of Excellence in Pedagogical Innovation”.
