Universidade Aberta has recently joined the 13 Portuguese educational institutions and non-governmental organizations that are part of the United Nations Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN).
This partnership with SDSN is of upmost relevance for the University, specially in what concerns the areas of research and teaching for the Sustainability. It enlarges the possibility to participate in international conferences on Sustainability issues and to propose applications for national or local development projects, and enables specific collaboration with the SDG Academy (the Education and Training Division of the SDSN). SDSN is the United Nations platform for promoting integrated approaches to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, through education, research, policy and global cooperation.
It was created in 2012 by former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon and world-renowned economist and professor Jeffrey Sachs.
Currently, SDSN has more than 1,800 members in more than 140 countries.
