Blended Intensive Programmes

Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP) are courses in hybrid format, that combine a virtual component with a short-term physical mobility. These courses offer an excellent opportunity for the development of transnational and transdisciplinary curricula, leveraging methodologies, strategies, technologies, resources and innovative ways of learning.

Groups of students, teachers and non-academic staff can thus participate in a short-term mobility abroad, combined with a mandatory virtual component.

Higher Education Institutions (HEI) interested in organizing one (or more) BIP, must submit their intention when applying to Key Action 1 projects of the Erasmus+ Programme (learning mobility of individuals), that normally occurs in February of each calendar year.

The coordinating HEI must ensure that the following mandatory minimum requirements are met:

  1. Physical component lasting between 5 and 30 days (there is no defined limit for the virtual component); the physical component may occur before, during, or after the virtual component;
  2. Partnership between HEI from 3 different partner countries, with formalization of an Erasmus+ interinstitutional agreement in the scientific area of the BIP (all HEI must have a valid European Charter for Higher Education – ECHE);
  3. Participation of at least 10 students (students from the coordinating HEI or of the physical component hosting HEI are not counted);
  4. Awarding of a minimum of 3 ECTS to students who complete the BIP.

Duration:

  • Physical mobility between 5 and 30 days;
  • The duration of the virtual component is not defined, but combined virtual and physical mobility must grant students at least 3 ECTS.

Location of the physical activity:

  • Coordinating HEI or any other location in the same country;
  • Partner HEI or any other location in the same country.
